Section e(ii) - Evaluate the users's response to the system (3 marks)

You can meet the criteria for this section in one of two ways.

Method 1
This is the best and quickest method of getting the three marks in this section. If everything in your system works perfectly, then use this method.

Obtain a letter from your user addressed to you, ideally on their headed paper if they have such a thing. In it, they will indicate that they have seen the final system. They will say that they have tested it fully with you, going through all of the Requirements Specification items in turn. They will indicate that they haven't found any faults with the system at all, that it works perfectly in all respects, that is is very easy to use and understand and that the documentation that came with it was very helpful. They will then thank you and sign and date the letter.

Include the letter in your project and write on it Section e (ii).

Method 2
If there are problems with some aspects of your system, then use this method.

You need the following mark scheme headings in e(ii) of your project:

    • Acceptance strategy.
    • Acceptance plan.
    • Evaluation of user's comments.

Acceptance strategy.
Briefly describe the purpose of Acceptance Testing. How are you planning to do your Acceptance Testing? Describe what you will do. Include when you will do the Acceptance testing, with whom, where, how you will arrange it, evidence of arranging it.

Acceptance plan.
Draw up a table with three columns. In the first column, put each of the Requirements in the final Requirements Specification from a(ii). Each one goes in its own row. You should also include tests or questions on other things that you want the user to comment on, such as the clarity of the menus, the quality of the help facilities, the ease of data input, the 'user-friendliness' of the system, how easy it is to back-up data, how good the system is at trapping user errors during data input, are there any errors or problems, have all of the Requirements been achieved, to name a few. Once you have your plan, you need to carry out the Acceptance Testing, making notes and providing evidence as you go. You should do this by completing the second column in your table as well as providing printouts and screendumps.

Printouts and screendumps should be cross-referenced to the test in the table. The third column in the table should have the page number(s) where the evidence for that test can be found.

Evaluation of user's comments.
Summarise your user's responses and comment on them. How happy are they? What evidence do you have to support your evaluation of their degree of satisfaction? Is there anything that is less than perfect? Discuss how you would go about dealing with these imperfections or problems.
